Learning Pathway

Tesla Education begins with our Early Years Program (EYP) for students starting at 18 months. Students transition to Primary School in Kindergarten to participate in the International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (PYP) and move to secondary school in Grade 6. After successful participation in the Middle Years Program (MYP) culminating in Grade 10, students have the opportunity to achieve the internationally recognized IB Diploma.

Tesla Education is an IB World School. Tesla Education is unique in providing an integrated international curriculum, combining both the high standards set by the National Curriculum (NC) with the rigorous international standards of the IB organisation. Our focus is on inspiring our students to achieve to their best potential and to prepare them for the complex and ever-changing world, so that they can help to positively impact and shape the future.

Early Years

Tesla Early Years (EY) is a three and a half-year programme, beginning at age 18 months to age 5 , focused on developing the innate curiosity of the students. We provide an integrated curriculum based on international standards that includes individual subjects taught in both Vietnamese and English. A focus of the play-based student experience through project-based learning is preparing students for the collaborative and inquiry-driven environment of the PYP beginning in Kindergarten.

Primary School

Tesla Education is an authorized International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) school.

The Tesla PYP programme of six years begins in kindergarten and culminates in Grade 5 where students are required to design, develop, and implement an Exhibition to demonstrate their learning throughout the program. Successful completion of the entire program will allow students to earn a certificate from both the National Curriculum (NC) as well as International Baccalaureate (IB).

The foundation of the Tesla PYP program is the National Curriculum learning outcomes and specialist courses enhanced by the international-standard IB framework taught in English. These are the grade-level knowledge and skills students are expected to attain as they progress through their learning experience. These define “WHAT” students are expected to know and be able to do. IB provides the framework for “HOW” students gain their understanding. Through collaborative inquiry, discovery activities, and challenging real-life situations, teachers and students develop lines of inquiry to make connections between science, social studies, language, the arts, and the rest of the curriculum as they participate in transdisciplinary thematic units of study.

At the core of the PYP experience is the goal of developing the attributes of a lifelong learner. As students mature through the grade levels, teachers gradually shift the responsibility for learning towards the students with the intent of developing the skills necessary to be successful in the global community and in line with the IB Learner Profile.

Secondary School

Tesla School is a candidate school* for the International Baccalaureate (IB) Middle Years (MYP) and Diploma Programme (DP).

The MYP is a five-year programme and the DP is a two-year programme. Beginning in Grade 6, students begin the transition from childhood to adolescence by participating in the MYP program through grade 10. These years can be exciting and challenging times for students and their families and our goal is to provide the support they need to mature naturally and explore their academic and social aspirations. The academic program integrates the National Curriculum learning outcomes with international content standards to ensure every student has the opportunity to be successful in the rigorous two-year Diploma Programme beginning in Grade 11. At the foundation of the experience is the IB approaches to teaching and learning that is focused on the whole child and their complete cognitive development.

Although students continue in the bilingual environment during the middle years, the level of English instruction is incrementally increased throughout the program so students are ready to be successful in the all-English Diploma Programme during the last two years of high school. In addition to the traditional academic subjects, students also have the opportunity to participate in the Arts, Design & Technology, Business Management, Physical education, and a variety of Extra-Curricular Activities.

Successful completion of the entire program will allow students graduating from Tesla to earn the coveted IB Diploma that is honored by institutions all around the world and have the ability to earn the National Curriculum – Certificate of completion allowing them the opportunity to attend Vietnamese Universities.

Why Is IB Different?

IB World Schools share a common philosophy – a commitment to improve the teaching and learning of a diverse and inclusive community of students by delivering challenging, high quality programmes of international education that share a powerful vision.**

* Only schools authorized by the International Baccalaureate can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme or the IB Career-related Certificate (IBCC). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted.

** Mission Statement from the IB

The International Baccalaureate aims to develop inquiring, knowledgeable, and caring young people who help to create a better and more peaceful world through intercultural understanding and respect. To this end, the organization works with schools, governments, and international organizations to develop challenging programmes of international education and rigorous assessment. These programmes encourage students across the world to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners who understand that other people, with their differences, can also be right.
