Our library is a modern, well-lit, open facility with comfortable working spaces that provides the relevant resources to support and encourage our students’ love of reading and development of research skills.
There are over 5,000 books and on-line resources to support students’ need for developing their research skills and knowledge.
Every Tesla student has access to the resources in the school library. Books can be checked-out before school, after-school, and at times designated by their teachers.
Students can borrow 5 books for a period of 2 weeks & on-line reference materials can be borrowed for a day.
Tesla also encourages parents to borrow from the Tesla Library. Parents are also able to borrow 5 books for a period of 2 weeks & on-line reference materials for a day.
As the research shows, having access to many types of books and research materials at a young age, children learn to value books and stories, they spark children’s imagination and stimulate curiosity. It helps to develop children’s brains, ability to focus, concentration, social skills and communication skills. Books help your child learn the difference between real and make believe and to understand new or frightening evens and the strong emotions that come with them. They also gain knowledge of the world, their own culture and the culture of others.
Reading stories with your children has benefits for parents also. The special time you spend reading together promotes bonding and helps to build your relationship with your child.
