The Primary Years provides an integrated curriculum by enhancing a traditional educational experience with a modern pedagogical approach in a bilingual environment. Students acquire English naturally in context while also continuing to build their Vietnamese communication abilities.
Tesla students get a foundation of knowledge and skills from the National Curriculum’s educational standards in their grade-level homeroom classes while also participating in other specialist courses enhanced by the international-standard IB framework taught in English.
Tesla Education is currently an authorized IB Primary Years Programme (IB PYP) school and designated as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy – a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Tesla Education believes is important for our students.
Tesla Education is unique in providing an INTEGRATED INTERNATIONAL CURRICULUM, combining both the high standards set by:
At the core of the learning experience are the PYP Units of Inquiry where students are encouraged to make connections between all subject areas within the six transdisciplinary themes.
Teachers and students explore central ideas and key concepts through collaborative activities that link their traditional classes of math, science, language, physical education, the arts, technology, history & geography, and essential life skills.
Each of the six units culminates in authentic, project-based assessments that allow students to demonstrate understanding in ways that are meaningful and relevant to them.
The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) will conduct in-depth inquiries based on six transdisciplinary themes
1. Who we are
2. Where we are in space and time
3. How we express ourselves
4. How the world works
5. How we organize ourselves
6. Sharing the planet
Each unit of inquiry is based on a knowledge base of one or more of six subject disciplines:
1. LANGUAGE
2. MATHEMATICS
3. SCIENCE
4. SOCIAL STUDIES
5. PHYSICAL, SOCIAL AND PERSONAL EDUCATION
6. ARTS
The five essential elements of the written curriculum for PYP students at Tesla are: KNOWLEDGE, CONCEPTS, SKILLS, ATTITUDES, ACTION.
In addition to students gaining the concepts that form the foundation of communication, our goal is to develop confident, open-minded, caring, reflective and knowledgeable critical thinkers that understand learning is a lifelong process.
The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Programme (PYP) focuses on a student-centered approach, develops their sense of self, essential skills, and nurtures a passion for lifelong learning. To fuel this, each PYP student’s IB learner profiles grow as they progress through their learning years, those profiles are: Inquirers, Knowledgeable, Thinkers, Communicators, Principled, Open-minded, Caring, Risk-takers, Balanced, and Reflective.
At Tesla, we are committed to teaching through structured, purposeful inquiry that engages students actively in their own learning.
Students inquire into, and learn about, globally significant issues in the context of Units Of Inquiry, each of which addresses a central idea relevant to a particular transdisciplinary theme. Lines of inquiry are identified in order to explore the scope of the central idea for each unit. The full program of inquiry at Tesla is dynamic and subject to minor changes as teachers adapt and plan collaboratively to meet the needs of their students and the changing context of the world around them.
