Primary Years

The Primary Years Programme (PYP) at Tesla Education – IB World School is designed to spark curiosity and ignite a passion for learning in our youngest students. At this foundational stage, we lay the groundwork for lifelong learning by encouraging exploration, discovery, and critical thinking.

The PYP emphasizes the development of the whole child, recognizing that intellectual, emotional, and social growth are all interconnected. Through a transdisciplinary approach, students engage with real- world issues, fostering their ability to think critically and make meaningful connections across disciplines. By encouraging inquiry-based learning and focusing on key concepts, skills, and attitudes, we aim to empower students to become active, compassionate, and lifelong learners.

The PYP Curriculum Framework at Tesla Education offers a structured yet flexible approach to learning, ensuring that students receive a well-rounded education.

At the core of the PYP is inquiry-based learning, which encourages students to explore, question, and investigate.

  • Student-Centred: This approach places students at the centre of their education, allowing them to pursue their interests and take ownership of their learning.
  • Fostering Curiosity: Students develop a love for learning by engaging in authentic, real-world inquiries that spark their natural curiosity.

The curriculum is organized around six transdisciplinary themes that provide a framework for learning across different subject areas. These themes are:

  • Who We Are
  • Where We Are in Place and Time
  • How We Express Ourselves
  • How the World Works
  • How We Organize Ourselves
  • Sharing the Planet

Each unit of inquiry is based on a knowledge base of one or more of six subject disciplines:

  1. Language
  2. Mathematics
  3. Science
  4. Social studies
  5. Physical, social and personal education
  6. Arts

Assessment is a vital component of the PYP Curriculum at Tesla Education. It ensures that students’ learning progress is monitored, celebrated, and supported. This section outlines the principles, methods, and practices of assessment in the PYP, aligning with IB standards to promote meaningful and purposeful learning.
