TESLA WEEK WITHOUT WALLS: A JOURNEY OF LEARNING BEYOND THE CLASSROOM

5 min. read

Tesla Week Without Walls 2026 - an annual experiential learning program where classrooms extend beyond the school campus.

Some lessons cannot be confined within the four walls of a classroom. Some knowledge is truly retained only when students witness it firsthand, experience it themselves, and discover it through exploration. This is the spirit of Tesla Week Without Walls 2026 - an annual experiential learning program where classrooms extend beyond the school campus, making room for meaningful adventures, new challenges, and countless opportunities for personal growth.

During the 2026 school year, Tesla students embarked on unforgettable journeys to Hanoi and Taiwan - two destinations filled with unique cultural and educational experiences. While each journey offered its own distinctive highlights, they shared one common purpose: helping students connect classroom learning with real-life experiences, broaden their perspectives on culture, history, and the world around them, and develop the attributes of IB learners through authentic, hands-on learning.

When the World Becomes the Classroom

Week Without Walls is inspired by the Experiential Learning philosophy at the heart of the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme. Rather than learning solely through textbooks, students deepen their understanding by observing, questioning, experimenting, and reflecting on every experience.

Each destination becomes an open classroom, where history comes alive beyond the pages of a book, culture is experienced rather than simply defined, and essential life skills are developed through authentic, real-world situations.

Hanoi - Discovering the Richness of Vietnamese Culture and Heritage

The Hanoi journey brought students closer to Vietnam's cultural heritage and historical legacy through educational visits, heritage exploration, and immersive learning experiences.

Beyond expanding their knowledge, the trip enabled students to connect what they had learned in the classroom with the real world while strengthening their observation skills, teamwork, and problem-solving abilities in new and unfamiliar settings.

Taiwan - Embracing the World as Global Citizens

While Hanoi offered a deeper appreciation of Vietnam's cultural roots, Taiwan provided students with the opportunity to immerse themselves in a vibrant international environment.

From exploring local culture and communicating in English to adapting to new schedules and surroundings, every experience helped build students' confidence, independence, and adaptability - essential qualities for becoming responsible global citizens.

A highlight of the journey was the students' visit to Taipei European School (TES), one of Taiwan's premier international schools, and National Tsing Hua University (NTHU), a dream university for generations of aspiring learners. By engaging with these renowned institutions and experiencing their international academic environments firsthand, students gained valuable insights into higher education while expanding their horizons and envisioning the many learning opportunities that lie ahead.

What Remains After the Journey

The photographs may eventually find their place in albums, but the memories and lessons will stay with students far beyond the trip itself. The confidence to step outside their comfort zones, the resilience to embrace new experiences, the ability to collaborate with others, the respect for different cultures, and the openness to see the world from diverse perspectives are the true takeaways of Week Without Walls.

Tesla Week Without Walls is more than a successful educational trip - it is a meaningful learning journey that continues to shape students long after they return home. Because sometimes, the most valuable lessons are not found in textbooks, but begin with the courage to explore the world.
