- Why Should Parents Choose Tesla's Primary Years Programme (PYP)?
Tesla's PYP offers a unique learning experience built around three key strengths:
- A strong bilingual foundation: Students develop both Vietnamese and English from the early years. We believe a strong mother tongue supports deeper thinking and makes learning a second language more effective.
- An integrated approach to learning: Tesla combines the IB Primary Years Programme (PYP) with the Vietnamese MOET curriculum, ensuring students meet national academic standards while developing the inquiry, critical thinking, and international-mindedness promoted by the IB.
- Designed for Vietnamese learners: As a Vietnamese-owned and operated IB World School, Tesla understands the aspirations of local families. Our programme is thoughtfully designed to provide students with a globally recognized education while staying connected to Vietnamese language, culture, and identity.
- What are the key advantages of Tesla's MYP?
Tesla's MYP combines the strengths of the IB framework with the Vietnamese national curriculum, creating a balanced and future-focused learning experience.
Key advantages include:
- A flexible, integrated curriculum that meets both IB and MOET requirements.
- Strong bilingual development, with Vietnamese Language & Literature taught as the first language and English as the second language.
- A deep connection to Vietnamese identity, with subjects such as History and Geography taught in Vietnamese to strengthen students' understanding of the country's culture and heritage.
- A seamless pathway to the IB Diploma Programme (DP), with Grade 10 students completing the IB MYP eAssessment to earn the internationally recognized MYP Certificate and prepare confidently for the academic demands of the DP and university.
- Does the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP) require students to learn on their own in every subject?
Not at all. In the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP), teachers continue to provide structured instruction and guidance across all subjects. What makes the MYP different is that students are encouraged to think critically, ask questions, conduct research, and take greater ownership of their learning.
For inquiry-based projects and research tasks, teachers explicitly teach essential skills such as research methods, information literacy, and time management. Students receive ongoing support from their teachers and have access to school learning resources, including the library.
Rather than learning independently without guidance, MYP students develop the confidence and skills to become independent thinkers - qualities that prepare them well for the IB Diploma Programme (DP) and future university study.
- What are the benefits of the IB Programme?
The International Baccalaureate (IB) Programme prepares students for success in school, university, and beyond by offering:
- Holistic development beyond academics.
- International-minded learning.
- Inquiry-based and interdisciplinary education.
- Language acquisition and communication skills.
- Critical thinking and independent research.
- Collaboration and real-world problem solving.
- Service learning that builds responsibility and leadership.
- Do students need to study the IB Programme from Primary School to Grade 12? Can they join in Grade 10?
Students can join the IB Programme at different stages - it is not mandatory to start in Primary School.
However, students who progress through the full IB Continuum (PYP, MYP, and DP) benefit from a seamless learning journey. Each programme builds the knowledge, skills, and learner attributes needed for success in the next stage, ensuring students are well prepared for the academic rigor of the IB Diploma Programme (DP). - Most IB schools in Vietnam teach primarily in English. Does the IB allow schools to offer a bilingual programme, including Vietnamese?
Yes. The IB recognizes bilingual education and allows the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP) to be delivered in a language other than English, provided the school meets IB authorization requirements.
For the Diploma Programme (DP), teaching and external assessments are conducted in English to ensure students meet international academic standards and university entrance requirements worldwide. - How are teachers at Tesla trained to deliver both the IB and MOET Curricula?
All IB teachers complete IB-authorized professional development and receive ongoing training throughout the year. At Tesla, teachers also participate in weekly in-house workshops and collaborative planning sessions to align the IB framework with MOET requirements. This continuous learning ensures a consistent, high-quality educational experience for every student. - Does completing the MYP give students an advantage in the IB Diploma Programme (DP)?
While students can enter the DP from other curricula, those who complete the MYP benefit from a smoother and more confident transition.
Through the MYP, students gradually build the academic English, critical thinking, research, and time-management skills expected in the DP. They also gain experience in inquiry-based learning, interdisciplinary projects, and community engagement - developing the independence and global perspective that universities value. As a result, students can focus on excelling in the DP rather than adapting to an entirely new way of learning.
