Tesla Education: Launching the IB Diploma Programme with Confidence

While 2026–2027 will be Tesla Education’s first DP cohort, our programme is built on strong foundations.

Tesla Education is already an IB Continuum School, authorized to offer:

  • Primary Years Programme (PYP)
    • Middle Years Programme (MYP)
    • Diploma Programme (DP)

This means our students benefit from a fully aligned IB learning journey from early years through graduation.

Our DP development has included:

  • collaboration with IB consultants and experienced DP educators
    • curriculum planning aligned with IB Programme Standards and Practices
    • professional development for teachers in IB assessment and pedagogy
    • university guidance structures for DP students

As a result, Tesla’s first DP students will enter a programme designed from the beginning to meet international IB expectations.

Tesla IB Diploma Scholarship Opportunities

Students entering the Pre-DP or IB Diploma Programme may receive scholarships covering up to 90% of tuition fees, depending on academic performance and scholarship evaluation.

Why Scholarships Are Offered for the IB Diploma

Tesla’s IB Scholarship Programme reflects our belief that talented students should have access to world-class education regardless of financial barriers.

The programme aims to:

  • attract motivated and high-achieving students
    • build a strong academic culture within the IB Diploma cohort
    • support students with the potential to succeed at leading global universities

By learning alongside other motivated students, scholarship recipients help create a dynamic and inspiring academic environment.

Who Should Apply?

Students currently in Grade 8, Grade 9, or Grade 10.

Why Grades 8-10 Are the Ideal Time to Prepare for the IB Diploma

Many successful IB students begin preparing during Grade 8 – Grade 10.

Early preparation allows students to:

  • strengthen academic foundations in mathematics and sciences
    • develop advanced English academic writing
    • explore subject interests before choosing Higher Level courses
    • build leadership experience through activities and service

At Tesla Education, students entering Pre-DP receive guidance that prepares them academically and personally for the IB Diploma Programme.

IB Course Credits Awarded: What This Means for Students and Families

One of the major advantages of the IB Diploma Programme (DP) is that many universities—especially in the United States—award university course credits for strong IB exam results.

This means that students who perform well in Higher Level (HL) subjects may receive:

  • university course credits
    • advanced standing
    • the ability to skip introductory courses

In practical terms, IB students may enter university already holding credits equivalent to first-year courses.

Types of IB Credit Universities Offer

1️⃣ Course Credit

Students receive actual university credit hours. This means the student does not need to take that course again in university.

Example: A student scoring HL Physics 6 may receive credit for Physics 101.

2️⃣ Advanced Standing

Some universities allow IB students to graduate earlier.

Example: Harvard allows students with three HL scores of 7 to apply for Advanced Standing, allowing them to graduate in three years instead of four.

3️⃣ Placement into Higher-Level Courses

Students may skip introductory courses and start at a more advanced level.

Example: A student with HL Mathematics 7 might begin directly in second-year mathematics courses.

Financial Benefits for Families

Receiving university credits can significantly reduce the cost of university education. For Vietnamese students studying in the US:

Scenario Estimated Savings
Public university $18,000 – $37,500
Private university $30,000 – $52,500

In some cases (Harvard Advanced Standing, Chicago credit policies), students may even graduate one semester or one year early, increasing savings further.

Academic Advantages for Students

IB course credits also provide academic flexibility.

Students may:

✔ graduate earlier
✔ take advanced courses sooner
✔ add a second major
✔ study abroad during university
✔ pursue internships earlier

This flexibility allows students to customize their university experience more effectively.

Why Universities Value IB Students

Universities award IB credit because the IB Diploma already develops university-level academic skills.

IB students graduate with experience in:

  • independent research (Extended Essay)
    • critical thinking (Theory of Knowledge)
    • academic writing and analysis
    • interdisciplinary learning
    • time management and academic rigor

These skills closely mirror what students will experience in university.
