An Emphasis On English Proficiency

The IELP curriculum uses the same framework as the mainstream International School of HCMC Middle Years Program (MYP), with an Emphasis on English Proficiency. While instruction is modified to meet the needs of students at varying stages of English language acquisition, the content of each lesson remains at the same high standard found in mainstream classes.

A Holistic Approach For Individual Success

Students receive daily individualized feedback by our teachers in the form of classroom projects, homework, quizzes, and tests in order to accurately monitor progress. A variety of online tools are also utilized, designed to effectively track improvements in the key skills of English reading, writing, listening, and speaking.

Why choose IB?

The IB gives students distinct advantages by building their critical thinking skills, nurturing their curiosity and their ability to solve complex problems. IB programme frameworks can operate effectively with national curricula across all school ages; more than half of IB World Schools are state-funded.

The IB programmes are different from other curricula because they:

– encourage students of all ages to think critically and challenge assumptions

– develop independently of government and national systems, incorporating quality practice from research and our global community of schools

– encourage students of all ages to consider both local and global contexts

– develop multilingual students.

IB PYP (Grades 1-5)

The International Baccalaureate Primary Years Program (IB PYP) at Westlink

The PYP marks the start of a lifelong journey. It develops caring and culturally aware children aged 6 – 12 to become active participants in their own learning. All classes have highly qualified and experienced teachers. Each class has an overseas qualified teacher and is supported by a locally qualified Vietnamese assistant teacher.

The PYP ensures that learning is engaging, relevant, challenging and significant. A transdisciplinary and conceptual inquiry approach encapsulates these aspects of learning, underpinned by authentic integrated assessment.

IB MYP (Grades 6-10)

The International Baccalaureate Middle Years Program (IB MYP)

The International Baccalaureate® (IB) Middle Years Programme (MYP) is for students aged 11-16. The IB MYP builds upon the skills and learning developed in the IB Primary Years Programme (IB PYP). The MYP also relies on connecting classroom pedagogical practices and content to the world outside through the Global Contexts and the Learner Profile.

The IB MYP prepares students for the IB Diploma Programme, which was established to provide students with a balanced education, facilitate geographic and cultural mobility and to promote international understanding.

Westlink International School is a Candidate School* for the MYP Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. These are schools that share a common philosophy—a commitment to high quality, challenging, international education that Westlink believes is important for our students.

*Only schools authorized by the IB Organization can offer any of its four academic programmes: the Primary Years Programme (PYP), the Middle Years Programme (MYP), the Diploma Programme, or the Career-related Programme (CP). Candidate status gives no guarantee that authorization will be granted. For further information about the IB and its programmes, visit www.ibo.org

IB DP Programme (Grades 11-12)

The IB Diploma Programme (DP) provides an academically challenging and balanced program of education, with final examinations that prepares students for success at university and in life beyond. It has been designed to address the intellectual, social, emotional, and physical well-being of students.

The IB DP is recognized and respected by the world’s leading universities, and evidence suggests that higher rates of DP students go on to university and higher education study than non-IB students.

Westlink International School is a candidate school* for the Diploma Programme. This school is pursuing authorization as an IB World School. IB World Schools share a common philosophy- a commitment to high-quality, challenging, international education- that we believe is important for our students.
